Introducing the Type I – Frame

This beautiful little table lamp was born from a design challenge we’ve been working on for quite a while. The entire lamp is crafted from a single material: the thin brown backboard you’ll find behind almost every retail picture frame.

Why the challenge? Because we’ve noticed how often these frames end up discarded at recycling stations. If the frame or glass gets damaged, they’re thrown away — leaving behind this slender, often overlooked board. We wanted to see if we could give it a new purpose. The catch? It’s only 1.3 mm thick, making it incredibly tricky to work with.

That’s why we’re especially proud of this design — one that manages to balance both function and form.
